§ April 22nd 2023 Arkansas Scholastic Individual Championship
Every year, the US Chess Federation sponsors a National Tournament of Champions event. In this event, each state can nominate one representative for each of the different tournaments in the NTOC. NTOC consists of four scholastic tournaments held at the same time at the same place (Michigan this year) in conjunction with the US Open: Rockefeller (K-5), Barber (6-8), Denker (9-12), and Haring (Exclusively girls K-12).
To determine who Arkansas will nominate as representatives, this tournament at North Little Rock High School will serve as an individual championship and qualifier event. Anyone who meets the requirements to serve as a representative in their respective category is welcome to play even if you have no intention of representing Arkansas in the national tournament if you win. Girls are welcome to either play in the Haring or the other scholastic tournament that they are eligible for (must choose one).
CXR will be used to rate the tournament, but if you have a US Chess membership, that rating will be used for pairings.
Entry fee is $20 per person, and plaques will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd per section. All proceeds from this event will go towards stipends for the representatives.
To register for this event, you can register at www.reg4chess.com.
